As part of the Company’s wellness program, Ashforth held a three-part series of healthy food educational sessions for its employees, offered by Wellness Concepts, a woman-owned business that provides global wellness solutions.

The first program in the series was a smoothie demonstration called “Shake it Up”. Employees learned about blending foods to maximize nutrient intake, seasonal superfoods to improve immune function, and star fruits and vegetables for optimal health. They also enjoyed a sampling of an energizing mango kale smoothie.

Ashforth held a cooking demonstration called “Building a Better Breakfast” for its second program. Employees gathered to learn how to create a heart-smart pantry with quick and easy healthy breakfast options, and how to use healthy ingredients to break the fast and make energy last. They enjoyed samplings and recipes for a Start-right Smoothie, an All-day Breakfast Salad, and Balsamic Strawberries and Ricotta. They also received nutrition information and had the opportunity to ask questions of the registered dietitian leading the demonstration.

For the third program, employees attended a webinar on “Dining Solutions for a Healthy Holiday.” A registered dietitian from Wellness Concepts shared tips on slashing fat and calories from holiday mealtime favorites, dining out healthfully, balancing holiday stress with exercise, and maintaining a healthy weight throughout the holidays.

“The Wellness Concepts demonstrations were a success, educating our employees with ideas for more healthy choices that can be easily incorporated into their daily diets,” shared Ashforth’s organizers of the event, Emily Hepworth and Sarah Waterbury.
