The Business Council of Fairfield County’s Healthy Employer Recognition Program once again honored Ashforth with its fifth consecutive Silver recognition award for its wellness program. The program highlights the efforts of employers who understand the competitive advantage of a healthy workforce and who have implemented a diverse range of programs to promote a healthy workplace and assist their employees to live healthier lives.
Since launching its wellness program in 2012, Ashforth has promoted wellness by: emailing Ashforth’s Wellness News monthly to employees and posting on its Wellness Board in its community kitchen, supporting fitness goals with gym discounts and walking groups, and encouraging participation in yearly health fairs and health observance events.
In 2016, Ashforth added two sections in its wellness newsletter that address emotional wellness and financial wellness. These two new sections provide insights from Ashforth’s health insurance carrier regarding stress management and the importance of balance in your life, and ideas from our 401(k) provider on budgeting and debt management, along with advice and information on saving for your retirement.
Ashforth also continued participating in a Farm Shares at Work Program, a weekly delivery of fresh locally-grown produce delivered directly to Ashforth’s owned properties: 3001 Stamford Square, Greenwich Plaza.
“Our goal as a company is to encourage our employees to lead healthy lifestyles by providing the resources and information to help them make small changes throughout the work day and the year,” said Jill Coscia, Vice President, Human Resources.
In total there were 47 companies recognized for their wellness initiatives. The Healthy Workplace Employer Recognition Program is an initiative of The Business Council’s Wellness Roundtable. Concentrating on the issues of health and wellness, The Wellness Roundtable is a vehicle for best practice exchange, conducts a communications and events program to raise awareness of wellness and serves as a catalyst for employers to take cooperative action in meeting the health-related needs of their employees.
