Ashforth Gives Back During Holidays – Gift of Giving, Caring Connections, Food Drive

The Ashforth Company continued to support local community organizations throughout the ongoing pandemic. During the holiday season, Ashforth offered a combination of onsite collection drives (Gift of Giving drive benefiting Kids Helping Kids and a Food Drive benefiting The Foodbank of Lower Fairfield County) and virtual giving opportunities (Caring Connections benefiting SilverSource and links to other nonprofits).

“Understanding the demand for much needed support within our communities, the desire from our tenants who wanted to help, and the majority of companies adopting remote operations for many of their employees, it only made sense to expand our giving opportunities to include a virtual aspect,” said Ashforth’s Marketing Project Manager, Andrew Martinez.

The Company’s Marketing Department created an event webpage for its owned/managed properties Greenwich Plaza, 3001 Stamford Square, and 707 Summer Street. Each holiday collection drive along with additional virtual giving and volunteering opportunities were highlighted on the webpages. In support of local restaurants, Ashforth’s properties also purchased restaurant gift cards for a drawing in which tenants could participate on the property’s webpage.

  • Gift of Giving Drive – Over 100 new gifts were collected and donated to the Kids Helping Kids’ 8th Annual Gift of Giving event held in December. A team of over 70 KHK volunteers worked together to plan and organize the event, which typically serves 400 children. The KHK Gift of Giving event allowed children in need a chance to shop free of charge for gifts to give to their family members during the holiday. The event took place at the Boys & Girls Club of Stamford.
  • Food Drive – Over 268 pounds of food was collected and donated to the Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County. Items included peanut butter, grape jelly, breakfast cereals, fruit cups, pasta, beans, juices, rice, and many other food items. A cash donation of over $200.00 was also collected and donated from employees of Albert B. Ashforth’s Management division. The Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County is an organization that provides food to nearly 90 nonprofit agencies and programs that serve low-income people in the lower Fairfield County area.
  • Caring Connections – Tenants from each participating property donated to Silver Source’s Caring Connection program. For every $25, a Caring Connections gift bag was created and gifted to a senior that included items to help seniors feel warm, cared for, and not forgotten. For every donation made, a matching food gift card was also donated thanks to a special fund. SilverSource is an independent 501(c)3 nonprofit agency providing information, counseling, and emergency financial assistance to the over-60 population of the greater Stamford area.
