This summer, the Women of Ashforth (WOAH) rolled up their sleeves for a day of volunteering at the Stamford Museum & Nature Center. The group dedicated their time and energy to enhancing the grounds surrounding the new Planetarium & Astronomy Center—a project currently under construction by A.P. Construction (APC), The Ashforth Company’s (TAC) construction division.
From graveling walkways and removing invasive bushes to replacing trail markers and stacking firewood, WOAH brought both strength and spirit to the day’s work, leaving a lasting impact that will benefit the Museum and enrich the visitor experience.
“It was so rewarding to spend the day outdoors, working together and giving back to a place that means so much to our community, and doing it with such a great group of women felt extra special,” said Sofia Saenz, Estimator for A.P. Construction.
The effort was organized by WOAH’s events committee: Sarah Brzoska, Executive Assistant/HR & Administrative Assistant, TAC and lead on planning the museum event; Sandra Funk, SVP, Diversified Investments, TAC and WOAH Co-chair; Melissa Sullivan, EVP & CFO, TAC and WOAH Co-chair; Alexa DiBuono, Director of Controls & Project Accountant, APC; and Corey Staves, Staff Accountant, Albert B. Ashforth, Inc. More than 20 women participated, with the day concluding in a well-deserved group lunch.
WOAH is a company-wide initiative started in 2022 to foster connection, mentorship, and professional development among women at Ashforth. The group’s mission is to empower women through shared experiences and to support one another in both career and community.
