The Ashforth Company’s Hope in Motion team, led by Team Captains Andrew Martinez, Jennifer Greco, and Sydney Worobel, along with many other registered teams accepted the challenge of going virtual this year to raise funds for the 25th annual Hope in Motion Walk & Run event.
“Because of the pandemic, we weren’t able to host our usual mini events to fundraise. Luckily, we were still able to figure out ways to connect, have fun and raise funds virtually through video conferencing,” said Team Captain, Jen Greco.
The team’s first virtual activity was creatively named Virtual Bingo for Hope. Employees were encouraged to donate $5 or more to virtually join other Ashforth employees, friends and family for a fun-filled hour of Bingo on Zoom. The event raised $160. Employees enjoyed seeing each other in their homes with their families and pets. The winners received a few fun token prizes. To date, the team has raised over $3,300. The team has many other Ashforth Hope in Motion fundraising activities taking place throughout the summer. The event will be open for fundraising and collecting donations until September 30th.
100% of the funds raised through Hope in Motion go directly to sustain quality-of-life programs and services at Stamford Health’s Bennett Cancer Center such as rides to and from treatment, lunches during chemotherapy, grants of up to $1,000 to help meet financial challenges, and more. As a result of the funds raised, the programs and services are all provided free of charge to the patients – which is highly unusual compared to other cancer programs locally and across the country.
