The Ashforth Company proudly partnered with KPMG, our tenant at 3001 Stamford Square, to support Operation Gratitude’s Annual Halloween Candy Drive. Tenants at Ashforth’s owned and managed properties, 707 Summer Street and 3001 Stamford Square, were encouraged to donate Halloween candy, along with a personalized messages, to be sent to deployed troops overseas and first responders in the states.
Candy collected was used as packing peanuts for care packages to cushion other items being sent to the troops, which included toiletries, knitted scarves and hats, DVDs, games and letters. The soldiers who received the packages eat some of the candy themselves, but often, it is also distributed to local children in the communities where the troops are deployed. In 2016, Operation Gratitude collected a record setting 533,891 pounds of candy.
Operation Gratitude annually sends 200,000+ care packages filled with food, entertainment, hygiene, and handmade items, plus personal letters of appreciation to Veterans, First Responders, New Recruits, Wounded Heroes, their Care Givers, and to individually named U.S. service members deployed overseas and their families waiting at home.
