2015-6-20_earth-day-event-verticalAshforth held its Sixth Annual Environmental Awareness Week to promote sustainability, conservation and awareness at its owned and managed buildings during the week of April 20-24.

This year’s initiative included the following drives:

  • A clothing and household items drive, supporting Person-to-Person
  • A book drive, encouraging tenants to bring in gently used books to donate to Stamford’s Ferguson Library
  • An e-cycling drive – held one day only, Wednesday, April 22nd, Earth Day – allowing everyone working at a number of Ashforth’s buildings to bring in electronics from home such as computers, TVs, printers, and other similar items that are typically costly to recycle

An environmental awareness table was located in each of the building lobbies to help promote the event and featured “green” literature. Each building held a drawing for a “green” prize bag which contained an assortment of sustainable items including eco-friendly household cleaners, CFL light bulbs, an assortment of seeds, recycled tote bags and other “green” products.

Ashforth uses Next Level for Recycling (NLR) at its buildings for regular recycling pick-ups. NLR has partnered with Ashforth for this event and has provided special recycling containers and pick-ups times as well as a discounted collection rate.
