Ashforth 2020 Employee of the Year

ASHFORTH EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR

For Outstanding Performance, Service and Commitment

Julio Suarez has been a member of ABA’s Management Services Team since 2000. His first assignment as a building engineer was at 55 & 57 Greens Farms Road in Westport and during this time he was responsible for installing a new building management system almost entirely by himself. He was moved to 700 Canal Street in Stamford to assist ABA in successfully repositioning this five-building complex on the south end of Stamford. He was instrumental in commissioning much of the new HVAC equipment and ensuring it was operating at peak efficiency. He is currently at Greenwich Plaza putting his talents to use working on the replacement of the buildings’ original perimeter fan coil units, condensate risers, as well as bi-polar ionization rails installed in the ventilation system. He is very talented and productive as well as an incredible problem-solver who produces high-quality work. He has the skillset and experience to complete projects in-house that are typically performed by third-party mechanical contractors resulting in significant savings. He is part of an unbeatable team when it comes to reliably operating Greenwich Plaza under all conditions 365 days a year. We are honored to award Julio with the 2020 Albert B. Ashforth Employee of the Year.

NOMINEES

Moe Malick of A.P. Construction and George Ferris of The Ashforth Company were recognized as nominees for the 2020 Albert B. Ashforth Employee of the Year Award for outstanding performance, service and commitment.

Moe Malick has been with the Company since June 2017. In the three years he has been with A.P. Construction, he has demonstrated that he is a very talented, diligent, hard-working estimator who is willing to take on large workloads and to learn new skills to estimate different types of projects. During 2020, he developed budgets and price proposals for over 40 projects for clients. His budgets and proposals are clear, accurate, and concise, and we constantly receive positive feedback from clients. He can be relied on in any situation to step up and take charge. He has a knack for organization, has a strong work ethic, and clearly defines the Operating Principles of The Ashforth Company with his commitment, quality of work, teamwork, and leadership, all with integrity and fairness. Moe is without a doubt an asset to the Company.

George Ferris has been with the Company since 2001. Over the past 19 years, this employee has done an amazing job helping to maintain our Marketing Department’s reputation for high-quality work and personal service. He provides exceptional graphic design for the Company, our divisions, nonprofit partners, and third-party clients. While consistently the case, this has been especially evident during the pandemic. In particular, he completed great design and implementation of the many moving pieces for the COVID-19 Reentry Plans and signage for our owned buildings and 20 third-party managed buildings; all done in an exceptionally short period of time. He also helped us quickly enter the virtual world by creating all collateral and web pages for A.P. Construction’s first-ever virtual trade shows, creating Ashforth’s new fitness web page – Keep Moving Together – our new Employee Volunteer webpage featuring our Company volunteer programs and resources for employees to volunteer where they live, and even customized Zoom backgrounds for all our divisions. George is the consummate team-player, always has a positive attitude, and very well-liked amongst all his colleagues.
