Ashforth Supports Hope in Motion for 25th Year – First-Ever Virtual Walk & Run

Stamford Health’s Bennett Cancer Center held its 25th annual Hope in Motion Walk & Run event, on National Cancer Survivor’s Day, Sunday, June 7, 2020. Due to the global pandemic COVID19, this year was the first-ever VIRTUAL Hope in Motion. Many teams and companies throughout Connecticut accepted this virtual challenge and together raised over $400,000.

As the founding and presenting sponsor, Ashforth partnered with Stamford Hospital 25 years ago in part to bring awareness to how much cancer has affected the lives of people in our community and to reach out in the community to let people know what an outstanding, local cancer center we have available to us.

This year, Ashforth’s team has raised over $3,000 through various mini events such as Valentine’s Day Bake Sales, Flower Sales and Virtual Bingo for Hope. Special thanks to our team captains Andrew Martinez, Jen Greco, and Sydney Worobel for coordinating the team and several other fundraising events leading up to the day of event.

The event has raised $16 million over 25 years. 100% of the funds raised through Hope in Motion go directly to sustain quality-of-life programs and services at Stamford Health’s Bennett Cancer Center such as rides to and from treatment, lunches during chemotherapy, grants of up to $1,000 to help meet financial challenges, and more. As a result of the funds raised, the programs and services are all provided free of charge to the patients – which is highly unusual compared to other cancer programs locally and across the country. Bennett Cancer Center believes that no patient should have to navigate their cancer journey alone.

Ashforth annually provides a financial contribution, a fundraising team, and marketing services in-kind. Over the 25 years, this total has exceeded $1.3 million.
