The Ashforth Company, led by employees Mary Farrell, Jen Greco, and Sue Kretchko, along with 40 other teams, helped to raise funds at the Literacy Volunteers at Family Centers’ 17th annual Scrabble Challenge. The event was emceed by WGCH-AM morning host and news director Tony Savino and featured many exciting raffle prizes.
The event raised $76,479 with all of the proceeds going towards providing quality education and resources to local adults who want to improve their English through the programs of Literacy Volunteers at Family Centers. Team Ashforth placed 8th in the corporate division.
For over 40 years, Literacy Volunteers has provided a place for women and men 17 or older to advance their knowledge of the English language, free of charge. During the 2016-17 academic year, about 145 volunteers logged over 12,000 service hours with 824 students in Stamford and Greenwich.
