Ashforth held its seventh Annual Environmental Awareness Week to promote sustainability, conservation and awareness at its owned and managed buildings during the week of April 18-22.

This year’s initiative included the following drives:

      • Clothing drive – supporting Person-to-Person
      • Book drive – encouraging tenants to bring in gently used books to donate to local charity
      • Nike Reuse-a-Shoe drive – Nike grinds down worn out athletic shoes and turns them into new playgrounds and sport surfaces
      • E-cycling drive – allowing everyone working at the buildings to bring in electronics from home such as computers, TVs, printers, and other similar items that are typically costly to recycle

An environmental awareness table was located in each of the building lobbies that featured “green” literature and daily challenges. Each building held a drawing for a “green” prize bag which contained an assortment of sustainable items including eco-friendly household cleaners, an assortment of seeds, garden supplies, and other “green” products. Ashforth uses Next Level for Recycling (NLR) at its buildings for regular recycling pick-ups. NLR has partnered with Ashforth for this event and has provided special recycling containers and pick-ups times as well as a discounted collection rate.
