Ashforth held its annual flu shot clinic to promote its healthy workplace culture at three of its owned and managed properties, Greenwich Plaza, 3001 Stamford Square and 707 Summer Street. Partnering with Stop and Shop Pharmacy, a total of 28 flu shots were administered during December at the three onsite clinics.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), it is important to get vaccinated as the flu vaccine prevents millions of illnesses and flu-related doctor’s visits each year. During 2019-2020, the last flu season prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, flu vaccination prevented an estimated 7.5 million influenza illnesses, 3.7 million influenza-associated medical visits, and 105,000 influenza-associated hospitalizations.
CDC recommends everyone 6 months and older get vaccinated against flu each year. Flu vaccination reduces the burden of flu illness, hospitalization, and death, and getting vaccinated could also help protect those who are more vulnerable to serious flu illness, like babies and young children, older people, and people with certain chronic health conditions.
